Stories of my travels
Posted by Marc Shiman on February 28, 2006
I’m going to start posting some of the more amusing stories while I was travelling, but not on this blog. I have more of a home page/blog at www.marcshiman.com. I just posted one about a unique travelling companion.

I like Landscape
Posted by Marc Shiman on February 27, 2006
Recently, I’ve found that when I brainstorm on paper, I’m doing way better if I turn the page to be in landscape format. I also prefer blank paper for this activity.
There’s something about a page that is in landscape format (sideways) that gives me freedom to write anywhere on the page. I feel compelled in portrait format to start writing on the top and work my way down. I am not afflicted with that same compulsion on landscape.
I find myself making more tables, more lists off to the right, and just generally being more creative.

An unfinished post – a little help please
Posted by Marc Shiman on February 16, 2006
There’s a concept that has been in my mind recently. However, I’m not going to finish this post, not today. I’m going to ask for your help. If I go too far into the theoretical, please actively ignore me. But if I intrigue you…..
The phase that has been in my head is “In Pursuit of Questions”. I am 100% sure I’m not the first one to ponder this concept, but there is a striking difference between it, and the more common “Pursuit of Answers”. Pursuing questions seems to be something of a much higher order, no?
When searching for questions, the possibilities are infinite. The search for answers is in a finite space. The search for questions is, therefore, a much more creative process than the search for answers. Searching for questions is endless, and can easily be done without any purpose – the search in itself is the purpose. Searching for answers is particularly goal-oriented.
I think the most striking difference is that the search for questions is found within yourself – you look outside when searching for answers.
Sorry about the philosophy – now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Path

I rebel against the notion that life should be goal-oriented. I’m journey-oriented.
How will I know when I get there? I am there.
